Acting

When I young I was shy. In fact when I was like young and I talk loud to present a cousin for a ballet presentation because it was the first my whole family heard to do this type of presentation everyone was in shock even my grandmother cried. I was really young but this anecdote is told every family reunion. So when I was five my mother put me in the Tarumba a circus program to show kids things like acrobatics and I was really uncomfortable but then I lost the fear to speak and act in public at the end there was a presentation about pirates and Peter Pan theme. I really don’t remember much but I remember that I was doing some trapeze act.

Later when I was like 12 my mom told me to go to the school play. I wasn’t excited in the beginning but then I really enjoyed it. I was in the play called I Never Saw Another Butterfly a play about a jewish WW2 I had a secondary role. I was really nervous again but I enjoyed it but in the end because I was really shy I didn’t wanted to do it again. Not acting at least so when it was time for the school musical Footloose I went to control lights. I really enjoyed it but it was boring although many teachers said that the colors of the stage made the musical more brighter and interesting. The next year I decided to go for acting again because I reflect that if I was going to be shy I was not going to find and try new things so I enter in the play called The Seussification of Romeo and Juliet. I was acting as the father of Juliet. This version of Romeo and Juliet was a version like Dr.Seuss so it was more for kids with no kisses or things like that it also had every character from Dr. Seuss stories and it even rhyme. I really enjoyed it and it made want to act again.

When I was 15 years old the teacher told me to audition for SAAC which is like a school arts festival with six South American countries which are; Peru, Argentina, Brazil, Ecuador, Chile, and Uruguay. My school did the play called “One Thousand Paper Cranes”, based of a story of a japanese girl that died of leukemia in the aftermath of the Hiroshima and Nagasaki bombings. It was in Argentina and I learn more acting techniques and lose more my shyness. I meet new people and I even stayed in a students house. I enjoyed it and my relationship the RTA (school’s theater club.

The next year I act for the Inter Class Competitions representing my grade and I was a bad guy and with a bad Russian/italian accent and really bad dialogue but super hilarious my grade won first place.

After that I went to act in the new play called Pride and Prejudice. For the presentation for this play almost everything went wrong, first there were so little amount of actors this led the drama teacher to make me act for three different characters well technically five just that they merge three into one character and then in the the last week of rehearsal the main leading role actress had to go to be hospitalized. I thought that we weren’t going to make it to be honest, in fact, I was really nervous when I was about to enter in the scene while we were presenting hoping nothing goes wrong but the drama teacher told us about play with our character and enjoy. I just follow those advices and yes sometimes I had to improvise, but nothing went wrong and I was having fun.

Now after the play I am ready to go again on SAAC although instead of traveling to Argentina go to Colombia and this time it became more difficult because now we need to write our own mini play and act it out to represent our school internationally. Apart from that the theater club had already told me to join to the musical this year which I am still thinking about it but any way, what I know for sure is that I will still act and although I act as a hobby I still have to much fun.
