A Whole New World

Aladdin was the musical that middle school did. They had a problem which was that they didn’t had any type of crew. Crew is the most important thing in drama because if there were no crew members there would not be any lights, sounds, costumes, props, etc. Crew is the magic of the theater. That is why they need to have one and middle school ask if the RTA (Roosevelt Theater Association) could help. As thespians we realize that we needed to help them and so we did.

We had to work together to put this together because the crew is a group of people that are like pieces of a big puzzle and all those pieces must be in order to make everything possible. In the other hand I had to do lights which meant that instead of working with other students that were working on moving scenes, I had to work with Mr. Alarcon, Ms. Mariana, and Ms. Kearns.

It took me time to get to know them and to see their vision of how Aladdin was going to be. After that we work together because they guide to where to put the lights and I just decided how much brightness I put. I work a lot with them and it help me demonstrating my skills and the benefits of workings with others, which is a CAS learning Outcome. And in the end I had to see and plan with colors and where to put the lights so I can make ‘A Whole New World’ as if it where in the sky in the night.

I had to go every Tuesdays and Thursdays and even some Saturdays and even though sometimes I didn’t want to go, I went because I knew that I had to help them so they would have a great musical, this shows my commitment and perseverance to help them to have a great final product, this is also a CAS learning Outcome that I learning in this experience.

In the end the play was amazing and I am proud of being part of it. It was fun and I would help them again.
