A Hard Day's Night

The Beatles and me

I am a Beatle fan, and so for my birthday, I asked my family if I could play with the Peruvians imitators from the popular Peruvian show "Yo Soy" so I can play with them for my birthday.

And so it did happen. The band who did tributes of the Beatles is called "Los Mapaches," and so they told me that if I wanted to play with them, I had to learn."I Want to Hold Your Hand," "Twist and Shout," and "Long Tall Sally." And so for the next couple of weeks, I had to practice those songs so I could play with them on my birthday, which meant that for the CAS Outcomes are, demonstrate how to initiate and plan a CAS experience and show commitment to and perseverance in CAS experience.

First of all, I know how to play the guitar just that I didn't know how to play those songs. So every day for half an hour. I had to practice all of those songs, so I had to play with the band. I had to look for the chords of the songs, understand them, trying to play at the right tempo and many more things so I could play smoothly with them. Working hard and trying to learn these half an hour every day for two weeks shows my commitment to and perseverance in this CAS experience.

And so I planned my self I had 14 days for three songs that I had to know how to play. So in the first week, I was trying to memorize the chords. To do that, I had to practice every day and plan what part of the song I am going to know each day and usually first started to learn how to play the chorus because that is the most comfortable place to start, then the verses of the song. In the case of "Twist and Shout," there is a solo that everyone plays. So I had to learn also that in the second week. After practicing for two weeks, I knew perfectly where everything went and starting to do it faster until I master it. Which shows that I made a plan for a CAS experience (in this case being the concert)

When the day came, I was nervous. It was the first I was going to play live in more than two years. I was trying to control myself when the first song started to play, and "Los Mapaches" began to sing they sound exactly like John Lennon and Paul Mccartney and I felt that I was in the middle of a concert of the actual Beatles. That feeling that I knew what I was doing, it felt great, and even though I was nervous at first in the next songs, I started to feel more comfortable with the stage and audience. I even sang in
"Twist and Shout."

In the end, I had lots of fun playing with them both, and apart from getting their autographs, they taught me that I have a plan and a goal I am unstoppable.
